Introducing: The Women’s Judo Initiative

Empowering the Next Generation of Female Judoka

While progress has been made in women’s judo, female athletes still face unique barriers like fewer visible role models and even less female training partners, limited leadership opportunities in judo, and less access to high-level training. The YULF Women’s Judo Initiative (WJI) is here to change that.

Conceived and spear headed by YULF President and 2x Olympian and bronze medalist Marti Malloy, and built on the principles of empowerment, education and leadership, this initiative is a step toward gender equity in judo on and off the mat.

Why It Matters

Women’s representation in judo leadership, coaching and competition remains disproportionately low. As one of the few American women to medal at the highest level, Marti Malloy knows the power of mentorship and community support. By launching a sustainable women’s program, the YULF is investing in a future where female judoka can rise to the top and stay there.
