A Winning Tradition Since 1946
The Yosh Uchida Legacy Foundation believes in the transformative power of judo paired with higher education. Coach Uchida started in the SJSU Judo program in 1946 and went on to develop generations of athletes. Through our scholarship program, we support the development of character, shape lives, and build champions by supporting student judo athletes in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence.
Did you know that with Coach Uchida’s leadership more Olympic medalists have emerged from the SJSU Judo Program than from any other judo program in the United States? The 2028 Summer Olympics present an opportunity to continue building on Coach Uchida’s incredible Olympic legacy. We believe that the next American to win an Olympic judo medal is being developed right NOW in our San Jose community while simultaneously pursuing higher education.
